Plain notes on shipping AI, web and software.
Written by the people doing the work, not by a content team writing about it. Every piece here came out of something we built, broke, fixed or argued about on a client call. Where a claim is not backed by something we have actually run, we say so rather than dressing it up.
What we write about
Three subjects, and not much else.
AI in production
Most AI writing stops at the demo. Ours starts after it. What changes when an agent touches real customer data, what guardrails actually prevent, how you roll back a bad release without waking the client, and the four numbers that tell you whether a copilot is earning its keep or just impressing people in meetings.
Web and eCommerce
Sites and stores get judged on revenue, not on how they look in a case study. We write about the architecture and speed work that gets a page ranking from day one, the migration steps that keep rankings and order history intact, and how to choose between a marketing site, a store, or both.
Running software
The part nobody sells: what happens in month seven. What a managed retainer should actually include, how to price maintenance honestly, when modernising a legacy system beats replacing it, and how to keep an internal tool useful once the people who commissioned it have moved on.

What a managed software retainer should actually include
Most software is quietly abandoned the day it launches. A real “we run” retainer is what keeps it earning. Here is exactly what to expect, and the weasel words to avoid.

SEO is not a plugin you add later. The sites that rank are built right from the first page. Here is how we approach it.

The call goes better when you already disagree with us.
We would rather lose the wrong project
A fair amount of what we publish talks people out of things. If buying an off-the-shelf tool is the right answer, we would rather say it in an article than discover it four weeks into a build. That costs us some enquiries and saves us the engagements that end badly six months in, which is a trade we will take every time.
Everything here is checkable
Where we quote a number it comes from a system we built and still run, and we name which one. Where we have no case study, we describe how we would approach the problem rather than implying we have already solved it. You are welcome to hold us to that on a call.
Prefer to talk it through? Book a call.
Tell us what you want to ship. You will get a straight recommendation, a fixed scope and a price — including “do not build this” when that is the answer.
